The J45 is a round shouldered dreadnought.

Modified V profile.
Lastly a 24 ¾ scale rosewood fingerboard.

This instrument is akin to Gibson flat-tops that were in production before the war.

Gibson Guitar And The Dark Fire

Gibson Guitar produced the Dark Fire on December 3, 2008.

Here was innovation itself.

Technical achievements and advancements that have ever since inspired the world of music.

Gibson Digital Guitar started the ball rolling in 2006 then the Robot Guitar showed it’s face in 2007 setting pulses racing.

Gibson’s Dark Fire guitar has completely changed music history and the music industry, virtually overnight.

The Gibson Dark Fire looks:

A nitrocellulose finish.
Mahogany back and neck have a satin finish for superb playability.
Headstock face has a gloss finish.
A flowerpot inlay such as on the F4 Mandolin and the Byrd-land, decorates the headstock.

Inspiration for the Dark Fire came mainly from the 2008 Les Paul.

The 2008 Les Paul has a ultra slick, and very comfortable neck shape along with Perfect Setup.
This guarantee of perfection is made possible by a computerized PLEK system.
They’ve redesigned the piezo bridge.
Teflon and frictionless faux bone are been used in the manufacture of the nut.
There is a bridge lock for total tone and sustain.
Locking tuners make sure that string tension and tuning are held steady through plenty of wild playing.

Gibson Dark Fire lets you blend and adjust the sound from the guitar’s traditional pickups, with the sound from the piezo bridge pickup, thanks to the rotary potentiometer .

You control functions of the Dark Fire with the MCK or Master Control Knob.

There’s a sophisticated color matrix display.

The new MCK, controls:

pickup changing.
Coils.
Tunings
And EQ settings.

This allows you to adjust everything smoothly, and more importantly, simultaneously, during your performance.

Gibson introduced three Slash Les Paul guitar models, all limited editions.

One from Gibson USA.
One from Gibsons Custom Shop.
And one from Gibson Epiphone.

They were all made with the full cooperation of Slash who, as you know, is the fantastic guitarist behind Velvet Revolver and most famously Guns N’ Roses.

These Les Pauls are crafted with a mahogany body and maple top.
They have Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro humbuckers (Slash’s favorite).
And a specially commissioned neck profile.

The guitars are Gibson’s own tribute to this extra special guitarist.

Every model is differentiated by tiny details that Slash personally specified.

I had to visit Frankfurt Musikmesse.

It was there that the world’s top musical instrument company, and pioneers in musical technology ‘GIBSON‘, announced a bonanza of inventive new products to be unraveled.

Gibson offered all attendees the opportunity to display their own personal musical ability by experiencing the unique playability of;

Gibson guitars.
Epiphone guitars (one of the Gibson family brands).
And Baldwin Pianos.

Gibson – Variety:

Interactive booths were assembled for enthusiasts to communicate and gain experience of each others musical areas.

One of the most astounding guitars of the last seven decades took center court.

The Gibson J45 dreadnought acoustic round-shoulder jumbo, started life taking over from the J35 in 1942 and in them days you could pick one up for a measly $45! ( I’d guess at that being around a months wages back then).

Gibson J45′s are all hand-crafted gorgeousness.

Gibson continues to produce and present the world’s most collectible guitars.

We were also in Frankfurt for the Korina Tribute guitars 50th Anniversary, and to see the Reissued 1959 ES-335 .
